Day 5 of 30
Day 5 · Week 1 · Fabric Foundations
Cotton isn’t one fabric — it’s a family.
Different cotton fabrics — Mulmul, Cambric, Poplin — side by side
🌾

Same fibre, very different feel

WEEK 1 · FABRIC FOUNDATIONS

Cotton Has a Family —
Mulmul, Cambric, Poplin

Same plant. Different weaves. Completely different feel on skin.

The Concept
Same fibre — different weave structures = different cotton types Every cotton type comes from the same plant. What changes is the **weave structure** — how tightly the threads are crossed, how many threads per inch, and how the yarn is spun. Mulmul is the loosest, lightest. Poplin is crisper, tighter. Cambric is medium. Each has a place; each tells a different story.

How to Use This in Your Store

Your Brand Edge
When a customer asks “what’s special about this cotton?” — name the weave. “This is Mulmul — the loosest cotton weave, sheer enough for May afternoons.” Or “This is Poplin — tighter weave, crisp on the skin, holds a kurta’s shape all day.” The same plant gives very different cloths.
"Same plant, very different fabrics. This Mulmul is so light it feels like air — perfect for a summer afternoon. This Poplin holds its shape because the weave is tighter — that’s why a kurta stays crisp through the day. Cotton has a whole family."
💡
Remember this always: Cotton is not one fabric — it’s a family of weaves. Mulmul (sheer), Voile (soft sheer), Cambric (medium), Poplin (crisp), Twill, Denim. Plus the premium ELS tier: Suvin, Giza, Pima. When you name the weave, you name the moment it’s for.
