WEEK 4 · KNOW BEFORE YOU STOCK

Craft vs Fast Fashion —
The Real Comparison

Your customer isn’t comparing prices. She’s comparing values — longevity, originality, who made it, what it costs the planet. Hand her the four differences and the ₹2,999 starts making sense.

The Concept
She’s not comparing prices. She’s comparing values — she just doesn’t know it yet. Fast fashion lives on speed and volume — one design copied across 50,000 pieces, made in 2 weeks, sold for ₹599, worn 5 times, thrown out in 6 months. Craft is the opposite — one design, one piece, made in days or weeks by hand, lasting 10+ years, often passed down. Your customer who walked into the mall and walked into your DM is weighing four things, even if she can’t name them: how long will it last, how many other women own the same piece, who actually made it, and what did it cost the environment. The mall saree wins on price. Yours wins on the four that matter for the long run.

How to Use This in Your Store

Your Brand Edge
Don’t fight her on price. Help her count per wear. If the mall saree is ₹599 and lasts 5 wears, that’s ₹120 per wear. If your handwoven is ₹2,999 and lasts 60 wears over 5 years, that’s ₹50 per wear. The maths flips the conversation. Then add the second line — “and in 5 years she’ll still have this one, not the mall ones”. Two sentences. The objection turns into a decision.
“Didi maths kariye — ₹599 ki mall saree, 5 baar pehni, fir bekaar. Yani ₹120 per wear. Yeh handwoven ₹2,999 ki hai — aap 5 saal mein 60 baar pehnogi. Matlab ₹50 per wear. Aur 5 saal baad yeh aapke paas hogi, mall wali nahi. Real saving ye hai.”
💡
Remember this always: Your customer isn’t comparing prices — she’s comparing values. Longevity, originality, who made it, and the planet cost. Help her count per-wear and the conversation shifts from ‘mehnga’ to ‘worth it’. The mall wins on price; craft wins on every other measure.
